We are a very friendly and thriving village group with about 35 members, who meet in the Village Hall at 2.30pm on the third Thursday of the month for a talk by a visiting speaker on an aspect of gardening or a related subject.
Our meetings are well attended and funds are raised by members’ subscriptions which this year are being kept to £10 for an individual and £15 for a couple. In addition there is an annual lunch and a visit to a garden of interest during the Summer – in 2018 we visited the beautiful garden at Higher Cullaford near Spreyton , this was followed by a delicious cream tea in the garden. This year we plan to visit an equally interesting garden – watch this space! There is an AGM and often a major fund-raising event in the summer, such as a plant sale.
The Committee meets regularly and works hard to organise special events. It puts together the programme for the following year and prepares the Village Hall for each meeting (including the important tea and cakes!). Members give all the help that is needed, especially at the special events, and feel that the Club is a great asset to village life. Visitors are very welcome to our meetings, the cost being £3 on the door.
